Want to Learn Music Theory For Writing?:: Ramsay: What music theory should really give you is a toolkit for songwriting. Music Theory 101 is probably like a college course thats a twelve week long course. But I figured for today we can have very casual chat workshop.

How many scales are in the piano?:: A scale is is a combination of notes that has a specific mathematical and scientific relationship. 99% of the music is rooted in these scales. These numbers represent the number of black notes in these different keys. And thats really how we orient the instrument.
Yashna:: Yashna: This is something that everyone can learn in less than seven days. You really have to memorize where the notes are in relation to black notes. This isnt the kind of thing where you have to practice it a lot. Its actually you learn it really fast.
Flat and sharp notes on D‚ô≠:: Going up or higher to the right is sharp and going lower or to the left is flat. All of the black notes have two names and some of the white notes. You cant find anything wrong with looking online for the names.
Scales and Flats, memorization first part:: Each scale has its own number of black notes. The number of sharps and flats doesnt change. A scale will only have sharps or itll only have flats. Today is just learning what the circle of fifths does.
Drawing my clock by memorizing notes:: On the piano, the shortest distance between two notes is a half step. I think there is a way to memorize the letters C, then G, then D. Because theyre each a perfect fifth, which is seven half steps away from one another. Its always going up sevenhalf steps.
Piano Practics For Beginners:: All right. Were talking about the twelve different scales, twelve different keys. What is your knowledge of music theory? Where are you at? Maybe theres a couple of questions I can answer for you guys.
Practice Counting 7 Steps on a Piano:: Yashna: Im going to give you one week to learn the names of the notes. She will practice counting seven steps going up. The goal is to learn all of these scales. It shouldnt take more than a week to get comfortable with them.
Scales and the flat part:: Every scale will have one of every letter. No repeats of the letters, and itll only have sharps or flats. Everything is almost secondary because the scales exist on their own. The relationship between the strings really is following a mathematical ratio.
What is AI and How Do We Use It?:: The easiest way to learn your scales is by playing an instrument. With any habit its hard to maintain. Give yourself about a year to where youre playing chords. Most people learn a lot in as little as one year.
Scales with 4,5, 6 Sharps and Flats:: Danny on the sharp side, the thing that I would just keep in mind, and Im wondering if this can apply to the flat side, which always confused me more. Its actually not like new black notes every time. Youre building on the same black notes.
Learning the Piano Major Scales:: What I send my students to is just to learn the piano major scales. It gives you a diagram that shows you, based on the blue highlighted section, what the notes of the scale are. One of the other strategies that I make people do is to take a journal as a music theory companion.
Blues and Piano:: Every scale is really only about this. Its only seven long. And this is where the sharp and flat starts to be important. We think about those black notes differently. What sound range are you getting higher? Are you getting lower?
Free Basics of C Major chords:: When youre in the key of C, are you absolutely beholden to those same seven notes, no matter what, to stay in that key? One example is actually being free of the key, but using it as a point that you want to orient yourself around. Another example is the concept of secondary chords or secondary dominance.
Passing Chords in Gospel Music:: In gospel they use slash chords, which are really, pretty, really cool. If you have two chords and you need a passing chord, whatever that note is, thats going to be a pass. Theres a lot of experimentation that happens in that tradition, in the gospel tradition.
Lamp Music App not available in my country:: Danny: I tried downloading the Lamp app, but it said its not available in my country. Keith is running our app development. Were very excited to get the app going. When Lamp ends, you can pay for the app. Ramsey: Are there apps that are not allowed in certain countries?
NFL on SNY:: All right, guys. Well, enjoy the rest of your week and your weekend. See you later. Bye, Ramsey.
